Week 2, Day 1

Well, 5.0 mph officially feels "slow" for jogging/running intervals. 5.2 is a pretty solid pace for longer intervals for me; I think it might be a good speed for me as I work up to 5.5 (and eventually perhaps 6 mph).

I started raising the elevation towards the end of last week towards the end of my runs. It's a nice stretch for the calves. I ran with it elevated for a while today. It was nice.

Major Lazer is definitely the best music for running. Put Pon de Floor on repeat, and the fun happens instantly, or at the very least even the hard parts feel a little more fun.

And tomorrow, post-running swim and sun time! Hoorah!

Week 1 Day Off

Yesterday I had my picnic with my friend. We were too full of nutella and strawberries to hike, but we walked and talked for a while. I got my first sunburn of the summer! Hooray-it is officially summer time!

Last night I helped chaperone a highschool dance. Damn those kids can move! They tried to teach me, with moderate success. It was fun and definitely a workout in its own right, though I'm 99.99% sure my booty will never shake like that. And I think I'm okay with that.

Today: helping a friend and volunteering! Hoorah!

Week 1, Day 3

3rd run today-my mile time was around 13:30. (counting gets complicated because it counts my 5:00 warmup which is relatively slower since it's...well...a warmup).

I'm starting to enjoy it more. Who would have ever guessed that I'd remotely enjoy running. It's nice to just go do something for me, by myself. No emails, no phone calls, just me.

Tomorrow: breakfast with my grandmother and a picnic and hike with my friend Z.

Summer 2011 Projects

My projects for this summer:

1. Successfully complete Couch 2 5K.
2. Cook things (preferably interesting things, preferably delicious)
3. Spend time with excellent people doing interesting things (hiking, picnicking, volunteering)
4. Read Ulysses and Middlemarch, and study Greek.

There are a few other things, like "exfoliate regularly," "moisturize daily," and "spend enough time in the sun for your hair to get pleasantly naturally highlighted," but those are relatively minor.

Monday was Day 2 of C25K. 14:10 mile-not bad. It's the fastest I've done a mile yet. Yesterday was the Precor machine. And today is another C25K workout plus an arm workout. (Oh and stretching. ALWAYS stretching.)
